Startup Spotlight: Pocket Food

Miracle Okah |

Pocket Food is a food delivery app that offers the luxury of a freshly made meal without users having to leave their office. Unlike other food delivery apps, it offers options to address the nutritional needs of the workforce.

Pocket Food was inspired by the founder, Omalara Olarerin, who struggled to find healthy and satisfactory lunch options while working in a busy office environment. After resorting to junk food due to expensive options and local restaurants serving dissatisfied food for a long time, she conceived the idea of a lunch subscription platform that would provide fresh and delicious meals to busy office staff.

Pocket Food started as Lunch Lady in August 2022. After recognising the need for scalability, it partnered with trusted vendors who are not just meal providers but also on a mission to cater to diverse dietary needs and became pocket Food.

The platform helps to sort out food needs, and all users need to do is create a profile, choose a flexible subscription, and get fresh, customised meals delivered.

Backed by Baobab Network, 500, etc., they strive to put people at the centre of their decisions and make a positive impact in the workplace. While they currently operate only in Lagos, they aim to expand to cities like Abuja, Port Harcourt, etc.
